Impact analysis for chemicals

Impact analysis

Whether and to what extent you are affected by the REACH Regulation (ECHA) depends on what you do. For example, it makes a significant difference whether your company sources its goods only from suppliers in the European Economic Area (27/28 EU countries plus Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein) or imports them from outside.

It is also important to know whether your goods are substances, mixtures or articles. There are borderline cases that are not always easy to clarify.

Is your substance an intermediate product because another substance is to be synthesized? Does any chemical transformation take place in your company? Or do you mix a formulation for special customer requirements?

Are the substances you handle hazardous? For example, can they burn, can they affect the health of workers or consumers or even the environment?

Different obligations arise depending on the answers. The more dangerous a substance is, the more. The regulations also have various exceptions that are not always easy to interpret.

Nevertheless, it all starts with an analysis of the impact. And that’s probably how it started for you too: First understand the legal requirements. Then find out if you are affected and what to do. Then implement. Ready.
