Biocidal products are intended to combat harmful organisms.

Diese Biozidprodukt wäre heute wahrscheinlich nicht zugelassen.

Biocides are used to combat harmful organisms such as insects, molds and bacteria. The aim is to protect human and animal health. Modern biocidal active substances must therefore not be toxic and should have as little impact on the environment as possible. It is therefore important to find the right balance between efficacy and minimizing undesirable effects.

Authorization prior to marketing of biocides

The European Biocidal Product Regulation sets out the rules on what needs to be tested and how a company obtains permission to market biocides. Not only did the active ingredient have to be approved and come from a European-listed supplier. The biocidal product with its secondary components requires its own authorization. And goods that have been treated with a biocidal product are also subject to the Biocidal Product Regulation. They may require labeling or even approval. But transitional arrangements may still apply. There are many exceptions in the European regulations. This increases complexity. But some work can also be spared. But maybe it’s only temporary. ⇒ Biocidal Product Regulation

Different tasks require different solutions

It is important to know what needs to be done for your company. It is comparatively simple if you “only” trade the biocidal product of another manufacturer under your company name. The approval of your special formulation, in which you advertise special properties, is much more complex. ⇒ Impact analysis

The approval process itself can be quite time-consuming and costly. If you do not have the expertise for this in-house, it is best to contact your trusted ⇒ consultant for the approval application. You can rarely start too early. ⇒ Biocidal products authorization
